Cathedral Restoration and the Cathedral Project to Resume

With winter just about over and the weather getting warmer, restoration of the Cathedral of the Theotokos of Great Grace is scheduled to resume the week of March 18th. Work will begin with repair and pointing of the Cathedral’s stone exterior, which is expected to continue through the summer. A new copper roof is slated to be installed beginning in May, which will replace the defective asphalt single roof which was installed in 2003.

Also scheduled to resume is work on various elements of the Cathedral Project, which is the development of Archdiocese and Cathedral-owned properties and vacant lands in the vicinity of the Cathedral. Principal among these are the September 11th Memorial Park located across the street from the Cathedral and the Lady Courtyard and Garden adjacent to the Cathedral. The Cathedral Project also includes installation of new sidewalks, curbing and lighting at all properties owned by the Archdiocese and the Cathedral.

Interested individuals and prospective donors are invited to visit the Cathedral any time Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 2:00pm to meet and speak with the Archbishop, Chancellor or Chief Operating Officer of the Archdiocese to have their questions answered or to discuss a possible donation. No appointment is necessary during these hours.
