Employment and Volunteer Information

A Message from the

Chief Operating Officer

Welcome to the Employment and Volunteer Information section of our website. Here you will find information regarding employment and volunteer opportunities with the Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas and Canada.

The Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese is an Equal Opportunity Employer and therefore assures equal employment opportunity in all its employment policies and practices.

These policies and procedures are administered without regard to race, color, national origin, age, gender, marital status, political affiliation, veteran status, service membership, sexual orientation or mental or physical disabilities not affecting one’s ability to perform the essential functions of one’s job.

There are certain positions in the Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas and Canada which require the incumbent to be Orthodox Christian, and some positions for which preference in hiring shall be given to people who are Orthodox Christian and who evidence an understanding of the Orthodox Catholic faith and manifest a commitment to living that faith, who exemplify the teachings of the Church in their public and private lives and, finally, who are in good standing with the Church. Such preference is allowed under state and federal law, and does not constitute an illegal act of discrimination.

Non-Orthodox applicants who wish to share in the mission of the Church must, as a condition of employment, acknowledge that they understand that they will be employed by an Orthodox Christian religious institution, agree to conduct their public activities and relationships in a manner that is compatible with the teachings and mission of the Orthodox Church, and affirm that they generally share the Orthodox Catholic religious perspective on issues of conduct, ethics and morality.

All applicants for employment or volunteer service with the Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas and Canada, its parishes, missions, communities, schools and other institutions, are required to undergo a background investigation. The extent and depth of that investigation is determined by the position being applied for. At the minimum, a driver’s license check, credit check and reference check are performed on all applicants. Applicants for positions which have regular contact with children also require a sexual offender registry check and fingerprinting. Positions dealing with the financial assets and resources of the Church also require fingerprinting and, in some cases, bonding. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the section of this website which deals with the Archdiocese’s policy regarding background investigations and fingerprinting.

We invite and welcome all interested individuals to apply for employment or volunteer service with the Church.  The links below will provide you with information regarding available employment and volunteer opportunities within the Archdiocese as well as information about our employment policies and procedures. Please take some time to review all available information and use it to discern whether employment or volunteer service with the Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas and Canada is right for you.

Once again, we thank you for your interest in employment and volunteer service with the Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas and Canada and look forward to welcoming you into our diocesan family and working closely with you to the greater glory of God.

Sincerely,

Phillip G. Barker, Jr.
