The Vicariate for External Affairs is the Archdiocese’s primary contact point with the public; international, federal, state and local government offices and agencies; interest groups, and the news media. It is responsible for developing public and community relations and other outreach strategies for the Archdiocese.

The Vicariate for External Affairs is comprised of the following offices:

Office of Public Affairs and Relations

The Archdiocese’s liaison with the public and with community and public interest groups. The Office also disseminates general information to the public and Church members regarding Archdiocese activities, initiatives and policy directives.

Office of Government Affairs

The Office of Government Affairs is the Archdiocese’s liaison with federal, state and local government agencies and offices, international governments and other civil agencies.

Office of Media Relations

Office of Inter-Church Relations

The Office of Inter-Church Relations is responsible for developing, fostering and maintaining relationships with the other Orthodox Churches, the Roman Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.

The goal of the Office of Inter-Church Relations is to present and represent the Italo-Greek Orthodox Church and the Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas and Canada to and before the other Orthodox Churches, the Roman Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches for the purpose of creating an understanding among them of our spiritual, ecclesiastical and cultural history.

The Office of Inter-Church Relations seeks to build stronger fraternal relationships with the other Churches through meetings, conferences, and dialogues as well as from reciprocal visits and open discussions held between Church leaders.

Office of Interfaith Relations

The function of the Office of Interfaith Relations is to establish and maintain mutual understanding between the Italo-Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas and Canada and other Christian faith communities and Jewish, Muslim and other faith groups.

The desire of the Archdiocese is to build grass roots and personal friendships with members of other faiths by means of conversation, personal meetings, social interaction and theological discussion
